About Akilah

Hello! My name is Akilah Vogt, I am a licensed acupuncturist and the owner of Tranquil Tucson Acupuncture. I graduated with my Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine in 2011, am licensed in Arizona and am nationally board certified with the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine).

Acupuncture became my passion after personally experiencing the profound healing it offers. In my early twenties I ruptured a disc in my low back and had mind numbingly painful sciatica to the point where I was unable to sleep or focus on almost anything else. I did all the things western medicine had to offer at that point stopping short of agreeing to back surgery. I was desperate for relief. I decided to try acupuncture even though at the time acupuncture was still considered pretty weird. Long story short- it changed my life.

I am deeply grateful to get to spend my days helping people feel better. After 13 years of serving adults and teens I decided to deepen my education and learn how to treat babies and kids as well. I was fortunate to train with one of the foremost scholars in pediatric acupuncture and completed the International Certification Program for Paediatric Acupuncture. Treating kids is deeply rewarding and so much fun! They keep me on my toes and inspire me to never stop playing.

Another area of passion is perinatal acupuncture. I’ve undertaken advanced training in treating people during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Many people know that acupuncture can help turn a breech baby or help to facilitate labor but it’s not yet common knowledge just how helpful regular acupuncture throughout pregnancy can be. I have a personal goal of helping to reduce the maternal mortality rate in the US through my work with this population.
